CEO Nationals 2016 – Tampa, FL

CEO Nationals 2016 in Tampa Florida was an eye opening look into what CEO does and how large a community it supports across the United States. Throughout the weekend students across the country were inspired to pursue their endeavors and foster the spirit of entrepreneurship on their respective campuses. Every single one of the over eight hundred attendees was involved in entrepreneurship in some capacity. Many of us will go on to found new ventures that will change the world, while some already have.

During the three day conference attendees had the opportunity to network with other CEO chapters from the 240 represented at the conference as well as listen to successful speakers and seasoned entrepreneurs. The keynote speakers included the owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Jeff Vinik, along with the founder of Chuck E. Cheese, Dr. Gene Landrum, Shark Tank alumni Kevin Harrington, and RedBox founder Michael Delazzer.

Along with networking and listening to keynotes, CEO also had the opportunity to attend breakout sessions that had a much narrower focus or lesson. Members could choose to attend 1 of the 4 to 6 sessions available during each time slot. Our own e-board members, Zack Murphy and James Imrie, spoke on various panels concerning Chapter Development in two of the sessions. James was also hired to photograph some of the events at the conference.

Some of the breakout sessions I was able to attend were “Be the Brand – Not the Business”, “Profit with a Purpose”, “How to Start A Multimillion-Dollar Business with no Funding”, and “College Students Don’t Need High GPA’S if You Do This”. As a new member to CEO this year, I was able to learn a lot about the organization as well as opportunities I have in the future.  I was able to learn about skills I didn’t know I already have and how to develop my thinking process while putting myself out there to see where I can go.

Bryant CEO was fortunate enough to make it to the final round to compete for best chapter. Other competitions at the conference included a pitch competition, best membership campaign, and fundraising. Competing against over 200 other schools, Bryant CEO placed Top 3 in the nation.

CEO Nationals 2016 flew by. By the end of our trip we were exhausted but hungry to pursue our various endeavors. The information and connections we made at Nationals will better serve our chapter going forward and leave a lasting impact on all in attendance.
