Emily Murphy
Name: Emily Murphy
Position: Events Coordinator
Class: 2011

I’ve been involved in CEO since my second semester of freshman year. I was a project manager for the E-pitch that spring with Dan McCarthy under Shawna Haggerty’s leadership. I was the co-events coordinator with Haley Trenholm during my sophomore year. I helped plan several successful events, including Purple Cow, Pumpkin Fest and E-day. I also attended the national conference in Chicago in 2008.

Aside from CEO, I work as an Admissions Fellow and as a Writing Tutor at ACE. I’m a Copy Editor for The Archway and I’m a part of the Honors Program.  I recently started my first business, called Good Pals. It facilitates a pen pal relationship between elementary school aged children in different geographic areas and socioeconomic situations.

I love entrepreneurship because it allows to me to do things my own way. I like to develop new systems, problem solve and analyze situations. Entrepreneurship is a way to express myself through a company. There aren’t any boundaries on ideas. I also love that the power lies with individual—your success is entirely in your own hands.
